Edvard Munch is one of the most famous painters in the world. In 1999 his painting “Madonna” was put up for auction at Christie’s in London by an anonymous seller, estimated value was 15 million dollars.
There was not a single bid.
After this it has disappeared from the international art scene. No one knows where it is.
This documentary goes in search for the missing “Madonna”. The quest takes us around the world. For the first time owners of four of the largest private Munch collections open their doors to the public.
All have Munch-paintings worth millions dollars on their walls.
