GODS OF BRAZIL
A spectacular film including fantastic archive footage never previously shown about Pele and Garrincha, the two footballers who both started their careers as national heroes playing for Brazil. But their lives turned out very differently; Pele achieved lifelong success, while Garrincha died in his late forties.
July 16 1950 was a dark day for Brazilian football – they lost the World Cup final at home in front of a crowd of 175,000. But it heralded the dawn and a golden age – made possible by two players, Pele and Garrincha.
Gods of Brazil tells the story of these two men through the archive footage and explains how one of them became the World’s Greatest Footballer and the other died a broken alcoholic at the age of 49.
