INCREDIBLE HORSEMAN, THE
The loner Stig-Anders lives in a remote village together with his horses where he practices the old traditions of farming, rejecting modern society. As time is taking its toll on Stig-Anders life is not getting any easier.
This beautifully shot and sensitively edited film is an engaging, heart warming and exotic tale of man and nature. Living alone on the family farm in Southeast Sweden, Stig-Anders is the bearer of old farming patterns. But the old ways are inefficient and make it difficult to cope with nature’s wrath. His neighbours look jealously on his land, which could bear much greater harvests if they were allowed to work on them with modern methods.
A big storm is on the way and Stig-Anders fears what it might do to his beloved forest. Within hours, the whole landscape turns from serenity to violence. The catastrophe mounts. Stig-Anders wakes up in a hospital. Feet badly scarred by frostbite. Without his horses, the horseman seems to have nothing to live for.
Like an angel out of the sky comes Madelene, who as a child learned to ride on Stig-Anders’ farm. She has heard of his misfortune and wants to help him back to life. She encourages him to start walking, to imagine himself back on the farm again. And, incredibly, come spring he rides the bike back to the farm.
