In the second series of the successful, award-winning detective series modern heroine Anna Pihl has joined the special police negotiating corps.
The negotiators receive training from Scotland Yard and the FBI in communicating with people in desperate predicaments: hostage-takers, potential suicides, etc.
Along with her negotiating, Anna Pihl is also an ordinary cop. We find her more experienced now, able to tell the true hard boys from the petty crooks, and she has picked up the lingo. She herself is tougher now, but of course her intuition is intact.
Negotiation at work and on the home front is the recurrent theme of he life in this season’s programmes.
There is plenty of comedy, too: one moment she talks a potential suicide down from a roof, and the next she has to exercise her skills on her 9-year-old son, Mikkel, who has locked himself in the bathroom and refuses to come out.
In her love life she discovers that negotiating isn’t always enough to hang onto your loved one or even to rebuff new suitors.
Anna Pihl 1 premiered in February 2006 on TV2 Danmark with an average share of 67%
The series also gained a share of 39 % on TV2 Norway in August
