EUROPEAN SAFARI

Dramas and thrills but also a lot of tenderness and humour in the series – the mice’s high speed running around and the male turtle’s slow motion chasing of a female, bumping his carapace into hers are just a few examples.

EUROPEAN SAFARI

European Safari is a series of short wildlife documentaries for children. Each of the films is a small voyage into the wildlife of animals that mostly are to be found in nature close to us. The aim is to familiarize children with the rich and very beautiful world of these non-exotic animals, to evoke children’s curiosity of this universe of marvel, showing, for example, how animals have every shape imaginable and are capable of doing things that no human would be able to do. The tree frogs are masters in this sense as they might perform a change of their screaming green colour into dark brown, and the caterpillar becomes another animal when it metamorphoses into a butterfly.

In the 26 episodes we have chosen to feature the following species: coot, mouse, newt, montpellier snake, rabbit, tarantula, common toad, viper, sand lizard, swallow, praying mantis, butterfly, natterjack toad, ants, turtle, grass snake, bees and wasps, hedgehog, roe deer, tree frog, web spinning spiders, fox, ocellated lizard, bat, cricket, chameleon.
