CHRISTMAS IN VALHALLA

From the creators of the successful children’s fantasy drama Jesus & Josefine now comes a captivating new Christmas story, this time based on Norse mythology.

CHRISTMAS IN VALHALLA

Christmas in Valhalla starts on 1 December when 12 year old Sofie learns the bad news that yet again her mum has got a job abroad. To console Sofie, her mum says they’ll spend Christmas at Sofie’s beloved granny’s in the country before heading off to Singapore on 27 December.

At granny’s another surprise awaits: the first floor has been rented to a forest ranger and his two kids, 14-year-old Jonas and 7-year-old Emma. While Granny and Emma are trying to conjure up a bit of Christmas spirit and the parents find that opposites attracts, Sofie and Jonas soon find themselves sharing a massive secret.
Amidst the trees across the fields is an ancient tumulus, and in the burial chamber there Sofie and Jonas come across Loke, the devious Norse god, still in the magical chains the other gods bound him in thousands of years ago. Loke uses rune magic and wily promises to trick the children into unchaining him.

To their horror Sofie and Jonas discover that by releasing Loke they’ve started the countdown to the end of the world; the only way they can prevent it and rescue Christmas is by recapturing Loke. A secret tunnel takes them to Asgård, where they meet Odin, Thor, Freja and the other Norse Gods. But they don’t know what is afoot. Loke killed Odin’s son, the handsome Baldur, and woe betide anyone who undoes Loke’s bonds. Loke must be caught, whatever it takes, but time is running out and the end of the world is coming perilously close.

As in all fine stories the children succeed in bringing back order in the world and the spirit of Christmas and the good influence of Sofie and Jonas slowly bring the parents together despite great diversity. Will Sofie’s Mum choose love over career and will Sofie be able to stay in Denmark…
From episode to episode we watch as the children encounter Norse mythology and provide us with a wholesome, entertaining, gripping story plus a unique insight into the Norse gods and heroic myths – where the struggle between good and evil is being constantly waged.

Christmas in Valhalla was an instantaneous success in Denmark, attracting an overwhelming average market share of 70 per cent of the family segment.
